Methodology and data sources
Comparing countries only works when every country is measured the same way. That is the whole design of this tool: one canonical dataset, one scoring model, no per-country exceptions.
How the scores work
Each country gets 11 category scores from 0 to 100, curated editorially: safety, tourist infrastructure, nature, budget friendliness, culture, food and drinks, cities, hotel quality, active vacation, relaxed vacation, and friendliness. The overall score is the plain average of those 11, rounded to a whole number. No hidden weighting, and a category winner is only marked when one country actually scores higher.
Best months come from real weather data
Best travel months are computed from monthly climate data (temperature, rainfall, sunshine hours, humidity) built on Open-Meteo historical weather. A month qualifies when it scores 70 or higher on the same model our Best Time to Travel tool uses. No editorial guessing.

5Where do the budget numbers come from?
Budgets are listed in USD per person per day in three tiers (budget, mid-range, luxury) and are reviewed together with the country pages they belong to. They are planning figures, not live prices: use them to compare countries, then check current rates for your dates.
